§ 01How-to

How do I remove noise from a recording?

Three steps, no software to install. Works on speech, voiceovers, a cappella singing and other voice-only recordings; full songs with music lose the music too, so please don't use it for those.

  • Clean up voiceovers and narration
  • Remove air-conditioner and fan noise
  • Mic hum and buzz
  • Clear room noise from a cappella vocals
  1. Choose a recording

Click the box above, or drag in a recording or voiceover; sound from videos works directly too. Up to 10 minutes per run.

  2. Pick a strength

Little noise? Choose "Light" to keep more breath and tails; "Medium" suits typical voiceovers; choose "Strong" for obvious noise. You can also fine-tune with the slider.

  3. Denoise, compare, download

Switch between "Original / Denoised" and listen first, then download when you're happy. The file name gets "-denoised" added, so your original isn't overwritten.

§ 02FAQ
Q1Can I denoise a full song?
We don't recommend it. Denoising treats everything other than the voice as noise, so a song's music gets heavily reduced or removed. It's meant for voice-only audio like voiceovers, recordings and a cappella vocals. To split a song's vocals from its backing track, use our paid vocal separation — preview for free before you decide.
Q2Which strength should I choose?
"Medium" suits typical voiceovers and recordings. For little noise, or to keep breath and tails, choose "Light"; for obvious noise choose "Strong" — breath, tails and reverb shrink too, and the voice sounds drier. Not sure? Start with "Medium", compare with the original, then adjust.
Q3What kinds of noise can it remove?
It works well on steady background noise: air conditioners, fans, computer noise, mic hum, and room or street noise. It mainly makes pauses and gaps between sentences quieter; noise mixed into the voice while you speak is only partly removed, and sudden sounds like knocks or barking are harder.
Q4Is my recording uploaded? Does it cost anything?
Nothing is uploaded. Denoising happens in your browser, and your recording never passes through our servers. It's free after you log in, with no usage limits. The first run after opening the page loads the denoiser, so it takes a little longer.
Q5How long can recordings be? How long does it take?
Up to 10 minutes per run. On a computer, a 1-minute stereo recording takes about 3–7 seconds; phones are a bit slower. Keep the page open while it works. Split longer recordings into parts first with the Audio Cutter.
