§ 01How-to

How do I record online and sing over a backing track?

No software to install — record in any phone or computer browser. Free after you log in, and recordings are never uploaded.

  • Record a cover over a backing track
  • Record voiceovers, dubbing, narration
  • Record your practice and listen back
  • Record dry vocals to mix in other apps
  1. Turn on the mic

Tap "Turn on mic" and choose "Allow" when your browser asks. Say a few words — if the level bar moves, it's picking you up.

  2. Pick a backing track (optional), record

To sing along, pick a backing-track file below — such as one you made on this site — and put on headphones; skip it for a cappella or voiceovers. Tap the red button to start; each take can be up to 10 minutes.

  3. Listen, adjust, export

Listen back first: adjust vocal and backing volume, and if your voice is early or late, drag "Timing fine-tune". When you're happy, pick a format and export your vocals and the mix.

§ 02FAQ
Q1Are recordings uploaded to a server?
No. Recording, playback, mixing and export all happen in your browser, and your audio never leaves your device. Logging in just unlocks the free tools — we don't collect your recordings.
Q2Why do I need headphones to record with a backing track?
To capture a clean voice, the browser's built-in echo cancellation and noise suppression are turned off. If the backing track plays through speakers, the mic records it too, and the mix ends up with two layers of backing that sound muddy. Wired headphones are more reliable; Bluetooth adds more delay, so you may need to drag your vocal earlier with "Timing fine-tune" afterwards.
Q3I tapped "Block", or the mic permission prompt never appeared — what now?
Chrome or Edge on a computer: click the icon left of the address bar → Site settings → Microphone → Allow, then refresh the page. Safari on iPhone: tap the "Aa" button left of the address bar → Website Settings → Microphone → Allow. In WeChat: first allow WeChat to use the microphone in your phone's Settings; if it still doesn't work, tap "···" in the top-right corner and choose "Open in Browser".
Q4What if my vocals and the backing track are out of sync?
Every device has a little delay between playback and recording; the tool estimates it and lines things up automatically. If your voice still sounds a bit late or early, drag "Timing fine-tune" in the playback area after recording until it's in time. Before recording with a backing track, you can also take off your headphones and use "Measure delay" once.
Q5How long can I record? Which formats can I export?
Each take can be up to 10 minutes; with a backing track, recording stops automatically when it ends. You can export MP3, WAV, FLAC or M4A (depending on what your browser supports). With a backing track you get two files — "Vocals" (just your voice) and "Mix" (voice plus backing) — or just one of them.
